The Silent Age (iOS)

Joe was average in every way... The Silent Age was more.

The Silent Age is a retro retro point and click adventure where average Joe time travels between the '70s and an apocalyptic future on his journey to meet the mysterious old man.

Although it was short lived, the first episode of The Silent Age was a nostalgic hour of time traveling and puzzle solving. The puzzles were rather straightforward (pickup everything you see and always check rooms in both time periods) and generous with hints ("this could be used to open a padlock").

While far from being a brain buster (I wasn't in the mood for the frustration anyway), the goofy retro atmosphere and amusing dialog ("It's a damn time machine, ok?") kept me playing to see how things would work out for average Joe.

The Silent Age provides a clean responsive interface and a fun remastered retro-styled world to explore. The old school b-movie sci-fi elements were an enjoyable part of both the art and dialogue. It's like a '90s point and click with all the grainy bits buffed out.

According to The Silent Age website episode two is fully funded and in development. Here's hoping they expand on the awesome roots they put in place with episode one.

Summary:
  • + great art
  • + entertaining dialogue
  • + smooth story progression
  • • puzzles were easy
  • • a bit short
  • - waiting for episode two ~_^
