Boss Monster (Revised Edition)

Who knew luring wandering heroes to their deaths could be so much fun. ~_^

In Boss Monster players compete to lure heroes into their dungeons (...to kill them ᕙ(Ò_Ó)ᕗ ).

Each turn new heroes are lured into dungeons containing the most of their desired treasure. But beware, the dungeon must also be deadly or the dungeon boss will quickly find themselves wounded by surviving heroes. A player who has taken five or more wounds is eliminated from the game. The first player to collect ten souls wins.

While we are both veteran gamers and really loved the theme, the poorly written rulebook left us confused, frustrated, and miserable during our first few games. Many gamers would have given up at this point, but we really wanted Boss Monster to work. Fortunately, the Advanced Rules Guide available from the brotherwisegames.com/rules website did a much better job of explaining the details of when cards could be activated and how their abilities interacted.

Boss Monster only takes around thirty minutes to play. This makes it a great game for taking a short break, especially for gamer's without a lot of free time. The first few games may take longer as everyone learns the rules and reads all the silly flavor text (e.g. "Boden the Pantless" on a quest for his misplaced clothes).

It is a short game so don't get too attached to your dungeon. ~_^

Boss Monster is a quick fun card game that is definitely worth trying, especially if the theme talks to you as much as it does to us. Just make sure you download the Advanced Rules Guide first. ~_^
